Personal Licence Training information.

To help you find the right personal licence training for the West Midlands, East Midlands and Central England the Licensed Trade Training Academy have developed this personal licence training guide to help guide you to finding the right training course in your area for the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders or NCPLH What is a personal licence? A personal licence allows an individual to authorise the sale or supply or alcohol under the Licensing Act 2003. Since November 2005, all alcohol-serving premises with a premises licence have needed at least one personal licence holder; one of whom will be named on the premises licence as the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS). Every sale of alcohol under the premises licence must be authorised by the Designated Premises Supervisor, or by another person who holds a personal licence. It is a good idea to have more than one personal licence holder on your premises licence to cover things such as sickness, holidays and days off. We recommend that most premises should have at least two personal licence holders assigned to anyone premises. How old do you have to be? To become a personal licence holder you must be over 18.How much does it cost? A personal licence costs £37. How long is it valid? A personal licence is valid for ten years from the date it is issued. Where is it valid? Your personal licence is portable throughout England and Wales. Do I need a qualification to be a personal licence holder? Yes you need a National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH). How much does a personal licence cost? The average cost is around £150.00 + V.A.T. for a one day personal licence holders training course. Where can I do my training There are various personal licence training organisations throughout the UK that specialise in this type of course such as the Licensed Trade Training Academy. The Academy run courses all over the country at various locations on a weekly basis, they also offer one 2 one training for the (NCPLH) personal licence holders course at some of their venues and your test can be taken on line for quick results. Innterpub also offer a NCPLH training course aimed at couples looking to work in the on-licensed trade and offer a 3 day training course including introduction to pub life, cellar management and the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders or NCPLH. The Ltta's web site can be found at www.LTTA.co.uk You can also down load their NCPLH personal licence holders training manual free of charge. What is a Designated Premises Supervisor? A Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) is a personal licence holder named on the premises licence (not necessarily the applicant) this person is responsible for authorising the sale or supply of alcohol at the premises and will normally be the person responsible for the day to day running of the premises. A DPS must hold a personal licence. Once I have taken my (NCPLH) personal licence holders training course, what happens next?
